Karim Noureldin
(*1967 in Zurich) lives and works in Lausanne. Having a Swiss/Egyptian backround, Karim Noureldin studied at the University of Art and Design Zurich/Zürcher Hochschule der Künste ZHdK and graduated 1994 in Fine Arts at the University of Art and Design Basel/Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst FHNW. Over the last two decades, his work was shown in both national and international institutions and venues, including Kunstmuseum Basel, Kunsthalle Basel, Kunstmuseum Zander, Westfälisches Landesmuseum LWL Münster, Kunsthaus Zürich, Kunstmuseum Bonn, Centre d'art contemporain Yverdon CACY, Kunst(Zeug)haus Rapperswil, MAMCO Musée d’art moderne et contemporain, Kunstmuseum Winterthur, Musée Cambrai and the Swiss Institute SI New York, among others. Represented currently by three art dealers, his work was seen in various art gallerys located in Switzerland, Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy, United States and China. Noureldin has received many prestigious awards, among them the Swiss Art Award (1997) the Kiefer Hablitzel (1997), as well as the Manor Art Price (2004). The artist was invited to residencies in Rome (2001) by Istituto Svizzera di Roma, London (2005) by Landis+Gyr and to Cairo (2006) by Pro Helvetia.Collaborating with key representatives of the Swiss architectural scene, such as Müller Sigrist Architekten, Raphael Nussbaumer Architectes, Luvo Architekten and Herzog & De Meuron, the artist was awarded with several cultural distinctions and holds since 2002 an associate professorship for Fine Arts at ECAL/University of Art and Design, Lausanne. Member of various Swiss cultural institutions including Pro Helvetia Swiss Arts Council, Noureldin is also member at the Board of Directors of the Rupf Collection Bern/Switzerland.
