Charity Auction for Artists’ Recipe Book, 20 November 2015

‘Artists’ Recipes’ is a collection of 80 artists works edited by Swiss artist duo Admir Jahic and Comenius Roethlisberger. Printed in 2000 copies, the single original will be available to the highest bidder, with all proceeds going to the benefit of the charitable foundation “VIVA CON AGUA”.

Included within these are von Bartha artists Karim Noureldin, Bob and Roberta Smith, Sarah Oppenheimer, Superflex, Beat Zoderer and Andrew Bick. Other artists include Marina Abramovic, Erwin Wurm, Fiona Banner, Olafur Eliasson, Ryan Gander, Hermann Nitsch, Anish Kapoor, who include their drawings, collages and photographs in response to their favourite recipes.

The book, which was launched earlier this year during Art Basel 45, reveals the artists’ favourite recipes, and more than just a cookbook, the book makes a direct link between cooking and art.

‘Artists’ Recipes’ has over 352 pages and has been designed by Admir Jahic and Comenius Roethlisberger, of Bolo publishing, who were inspired by their personal love of cooking to reach out to other artists.

“We’re proud that we managed to get such renowned artists involved. This book is a collection of recipes but at the same time it shows a personal, perhaps less familiar side to the artists,” says Roethlisberger.

Each recipe is unique and captures something of the artist’s personality. The publication was presented by Jahic and Roethlisberger at Rirkrit Tiravanija’s installation ‘Do we dream under the same sky’ at Art Basel 45. ‘Artists’ Recipes’ was also presented at the art book fair I Never Read – Art Book Fair Basel.

The artists’ recipes, like their art, range from figurative, to abstract and conceptual. Beat Zoderer chooses a tasty Tarte Tatin, while Sarah Oppenheimer picks simply an egg, illustrated in a cut out in the middle of the page.

“Artists’ Recipes” is available to buy online at bolo-publishing.ch and at museums shops like Fondation Beyeler, Schaulager and Kunsthalle Basel. For more information, contact Julia Lambrecht at julia@bolo-publishing.ch or studio@jahic-roethlisberger.ch.
